The department awards the Outstanding Senior and the Kenneth and Marilyn Kennad Philosophy Scholarship each spring. The Outstanding Senior is given to the graduating senior chosen from our graduates the previous December and the current May. This award is voted by the Philosophy faculty.
The Kenneth and Marilyn Kennard Philosophy Scholarship is also voted by the Philosophy faculty. Eligible students are current junior Philosophy majors. This award is funded by the first chairperson of the department, Dr. Kenneth Kennard and his wife, Marilyn, who established this fund in 1998.
In 2008, we presented our first annual Scott M. Elliott Philosophy Scholarship. This award is voted by the Philosophy Faculty. Eligible students are current sophomore Philosophy majors. This award is funded by an alum of Illinois State University, Scott Elliott.
