Additional items to note for term papers. 1. ALWAYS use ITALICS where the style guide indicates underlining. I will count you down 10 points on the final bibliography if this rule is not followed. 2. ALWAYS capitalize the first letter of the titles of books, articles, or other materials. This might sound trivial, but this is proper formal. Make sure that you do this, or I will count you down 5 points per occurance in the final bibliography. 3. Initial paragraph should contain the thesis, and the list of topics that you are using in the body of the paper to prove your thesis. If you have any questions about whether your paper is doing this, double and triple check this. I will count your paper down 10 points if your introduction is not in this format. USE the boilerplate language if you need assistance here. 4. Conclusion is in proper format. Again 10 points will be deducted if your paper does not have a conclusion in the proper format. 5. Make sure that you have all of the needed attachments to the final version of the paper. If you are missing any of these attachments, I will deduct 5 points per missing attachment. These need to be the marked versions that you previously handed in to me. MAKE SURE THAT YOU KEEP A COPY OF THESE FOR YOURSELF! 6. For the final version of the paper, please use NEW paper, not previously printed paper. I will count you down 10 points per page if the paper is not new. This item should not even be an issue, but I have been receiving some sloppy stuff lately and this must stop. You should have some pride in the work that you are submitting to me or, for that matter, to any of your professors. Reused paper is not an indication of any pride and it looks like you just don't care. |
